Just
some of the beautiful places we can help you get to. |
Fraser Island QUEENSLAND
Fraser Island is approximately a three and a half hour drive north
of Brisbane. A unique natural environment, Fraser Island is the
largest sand island in the world and the only place where rainforest
grows from sand. There are a number of lakes on the island each
with their own individual character - from lakes stained red with
tanin to others with pure white sand and crystal clear water. Swimming
in these lakes is a memorable experience.
The combination of the natural environment with a rich Aboriginal
heritage and a colourful european history makes Fraser Island one
of the features of Queensland's coastline.

BUNGLE
BUNGLE RANGE WESTERN AUSTRALIA
The Bungle Bungle Range, in Purnululu National Park, is one of the
most fascinating geological landmarks in Australia. The range stands
200 to 300 metres above a woodland and grass covered plain, with
steep cliffs on the western plain. Constant erosion and river movements
have formed the huge black and orange striped domes over the last
20 million years. In the range, a hidden world of gorges and pools
is revealed, with fan palms clinging precariously to walls and crevices
in the rocks.
Although the Bungle Bungle Range was extensively used by Aboriginal
people during the wet season, when plant and animal life was abundant,
few Europeans knew of its existence until the mid-1980s. The park
offers a remote wilderness experience. The area is rich in Aboriginal
art and there are also many burial sites. Several species of rare
animals also occur in the park. |

COFFIN
BAY NATIONAL PARK SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Coffin Bay National Park, an hour’s drive west from Port Lincoln,
is a landscape of brilliant beaches, dunes and a rugged coastal
environment, mostly accessible only by 4WD. You’ll be rewarded
by isolation, sand sculptures at Sensation and Mullalong beaches,
and the quality of the fishing. Semicircular stone walls on the
northern shore are Aboriginal fish traps – fish were chased
in at high tide and then the gaps in the side blocked with nets
as the water receded.
Coffin Bay National Park covers the entire Coffin Bay Peninsula
and contains some beautiful, unspoilt coastal wilderness. The park
has a great variety of wildlife; seabirds are prolific, with white-bellied
sea eagles, ospreys, albatrosses and petrels a common sight.

TANNA ISLAND
VANUATU
The island of Tanna is famous for its volcano, its wild horses, and
visits to its custom villages and the cargo cults that have grown
there. Day trips are available from Port Vila, but stay at least overnight,
as there are plenty of attractions of great interest in Tanna.
A night
trip up mighty Yasur Volcano is an experience one does not forget
easily. Yasur is an active volcano, and one of the most accessible
active volcanoes anywhere on earth. You can experience spectacular
eruptions that shoot glowing ash and stones into the air, the earth
trembles below as nature puts on its display.
With
special arrangements, visitors can be taken to a "Custom"
village to touch and be touched by the age-old village culture.
Here the people still dress and live in traditional ways. You can
meet and chat with the Chief and be entertained by the antics of
the children. |
